DGA Interpretation

Transformer Health & Assessment

Turn Oil Analysis Data into Clear Decisions

For utilities and asset owners, transformers are critical infrastructure. When something goes wrong, the cost of downtime, emergency response, and asset damage can be significant.

Oil analysis (DGA) is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools available — but its real value depends on how well the data is interpreted.

At Reactance, we do not perform laboratory testing. We provide independent, engineering-led interpretation of oil analysis results — turning raw data into clear, risk-based decisions.

What This Means for You

  • Understand the real condition of your transformer — not just lab numbers
  • Avoid unnecessary shutdowns or missed early warnings
  • Detect developing faults before they become critical
  • Make confident maintenance and operational decisions

From Data to Engineering Insight

Most laboratories provide gas concentrations in ppm. However, a flagged value alone does not answer the key question: Do you need to act now — or can it wait?

We bridge the gap between lab reports and operational decisions by combining:

  • DGA results
  • Transformer design and configuration
  • Loading and operational history
  • Asset age and condition

Result: A realistic risk profile — not just a generic diagnosis.

Our Diagnostic Approach

We apply multiple internationally recognized methods to ensure reliable interpretation.

Multi-Method Analysis

  • Duval Triangle (1, 4, 5, 7): Identification of fault type — thermal, electrical, partial discharge, arcing.
  • Gas Ratios (IEC / Rogers): Evaluation of fault evolution and involvement of solid insulation.
  • IEC 60599 & IEEE C57.104: Interpretation aligned with international standards.

What You Receive

Clear, actionable output — not just a report. Each analysis includes:

  • Severity Assessment: Classification of the issue — Normal / Stable, Developing, or Critical.
  • Root Cause Indication: Identification of the most probable fault type and mechanism.
  • Actionable Recommendations: Clear next steps — increase monitoring frequency, perform additional diagnostics, plan inspection during next outage, or immediate action if required.

You get decision support — not just data interpretation.

Why Independent Interpretation Matters

Automated tools and generic lab reports can:

  • Trigger false alarms
  • Miss slow-developing critical faults
  • Ignore design-specific behaviour

Our Goal

To turn your oil analysis data into a reliable decision-making tool — helping you prevent failures, reduce unnecessary costs, and extend asset lifetime.

By engaging experienced specialists, you ensure that your decisions are based on a clear technical understanding — helping you minimize downtime, optimize maintenance budgets, and act at the right time.
